Prof Terry Ansah

Professor Terry Ansah is a seasoned agricultural scientist, educator, and academic leader with over two decades of experience in research, teaching, and university governance. He currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Sciences at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Ghana. His expertise lies in livestock nutrition, sustainable agriculture, food security, and climate-resilient farming systems. He has led numerous interdisciplinary projects aimed at improving smallholder livelihoods, promoting agri-preneurship, and strengthening agri-food value chains across West Africa.
A strong advocate for practical, community-centred agricultural development, Professor Ansah is committed to working with policymakers, research institutions, and local communities, especially within the Sahel region, to drive sustainable solutions to food and nutrition insecurity. He brings strategic vision, integrity, and a collaborative spirit to every initiative and is widely respected for his dedication to academic excellence, stakeholder engagement, and inclusive development.

Research Team Overview – Led by Professor Terry Ansah

Professor Terry Ansah leads a dynamic, multidisciplinary research team dedicated to advancing sustainable livestock production, soil health, and climate-resilient agriculture in West Africa. The team collaborates with national and international partners to generate practical solutions for smallholder farmers and pastoral systems.
Key areas of focus include the development of strategic animal feed packages in collaboration with JIRCAS to address dry-season feed shortages, and the production of organic fertilizer from animal and crop waste to enhance soil fertility and reduce environmental degradation. Under the DeCLARE project, the team is also involved in estimating biomass yield from grazing lands to guide sustainable pasture management. Additionally, in partnership with CIAT–Bioversity, the group assesses the agronomic performance and biomass yield of improved forage varieties, contributing to evidence-based forage interventions that support year-round livestock productivity.
